Yankee Stadium lovefest = gag

Watching the home run derby, and had some thoughts about the Yankee Stadium Lovefest:

1) The stadium isn't closing today.....there's still a half year left.....

2) really, Arod's 500th homerun is the best homerun at Yankee Stadium?  I'm not a Yankee fan, but I'd think that they could find a much more fitting end to their "Homeruns at Yankee Stadium montage".  Maybe Reggie Jackson...Roger Maris...or, to stick it to Red Sox fans, Aaron F'n Boone?

3) yes, people do visit other stadiums to tour the place.  I did it as a kid in Minneapolis (at the Metrodome)....and I know that people have done so in Boston (at Fenway) before too......get your shit together ESPN

Granted, as the standings are today, the Yankees aren't going to be playing in the postseason this year....so, I guess the All Star game is the last major event there.....carry on ESPN

  1. 1) as a fan of baseball and history, yankees stadium represents some great baseball history as in Lou Gehrig's "Luckiest man" speech or Mr. October's clutch hitting or Mr. November's (Jeter) clutch hitting. The point is, i can understand the nostalgia and "lovefest". There's a lot of history that has happened at the stadium.

2)I think Babe Ruth's called shot would rank up there before AROD's 500th, but that's just me.

    3) I can't believe you're even mentioning Metrodome tours and Yankees stadium tours in the same sentence. The amount of history and great players to wear the yankees uniform is far greater than what the twins have.

It not just about what's happening today, but what has also happened. Yankees stadium represents alot of baseball history as well as other notable events like the pope recently holding mass there.
